40-Hour Basic Mediation Course

The next offering is scheduled for March 14, 15, 16 and 29, 30.

Washington State Bar Association CLE's: 36.5, plus 2.5 ethics credits.

Educational Service District 123 clock hours: 39

The training does the following:

This is the basic course required by most mediation centers to qualify as a mediator.  This course examines the theory and practice of mediation in all of its facets. Combining practical applications with theory from the very outset, this course will transform the way you look at conflict and open avenues for resolution that you did not know existed. This course is taught by certified, practicing mediators who bring a wealth of practical experience to share with you!

Tuition is $495and includes snacks, lunch each day and all materials. A limited number of Scholarships are available. Contact the DRC for more information.

This comprehensive, fun and mind expanding training is open to all who want to become mediators or gain a higher degree of conflict management and resolution skills. Designed and taught by a team of experienced and practicing BFDRC mediators and trainers, this course will focus on interest-based, collaborative mediation practices. The theory and skills practice offered will lead to your mastery of the step-by step mediation process. Recent research suggests that mediation is recognized as an increasingly satisfactory way to assist parties in conflict. This 40-hour course will teach you how to facilitate collaborative problem solving leading to mutually acceptable agreements for the parties involved in dispute.

All training materials, plus a light breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided each day. Please inform the center if you have any special dietary restrictions. We will do our best to address any special needs.

A limited number of scholarships are available for commitment of service to Benton Franklin Dispute Resolution Center.

To get the most from this experience, all participants will participate in practice mediation role-plays and exercises.
